SkillSurvey for 50/50 Funded Student Employees
SkillSurvey is a tool used to assess your career readiness by completing a self-assessment and receiving feedback from your supervisor. Both you and your supervisor will complete a portion of SkillSurvey and then you will be able to review the report together and identify areas where you are doing well and areas where you would like to improve.
SkillSurvey also helps open dialogue about how your job on campus is important in helping you build skills that will be useful in your future career.
Completing SkillSurvey:
At the end of each semester that you are a 50/50 Funded Student Employee, you will be asked t to complete SkillSurvey. Your supervisor will work with the Student Employment Coordinator to determine when you will be uploaded to the site. On the date decided between your supervisor and student employment, you will be uploaded to SkillSurvey and receive a link to complete the self-assessment*.
NOTE: Before you can be added as a student employee on SkillSurvey, you will need to complete the FERPA Consent Form**. If you have already filled this out, you do not need to fill it out again. If you aren’t sure if you have, check your supervisor, or fill out the form again.
Steps to Complete the Skill Survey Assessment:
- A link will be sent directly from SkillSurvey to the email you provided on the FERPA Consent Form. If you do not receive this email, check both your @mail.edu and @mail.weber.edu email addresses as well as your spam folder. If you are unable to find this email, let your supervisor know.
- Subject: Weber State University Evaluation Process
- Sender: donotreply@reference.skillsurvey.com
- Open the link to the self-assessment and complete the survey. This will take approximately 5-10 minutes.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: As many of you are aware, a new legislation, HB261, went into effect on July 1, 2024. As such, you are not required to answer any questions regarding Equity, Diversity, or Inclusion. When you come to these questions on the self-assessment, you may select N/A. If you would like to discuss these aspects with your supervisor, you are welcome to answer the questions.
- Here is a list of questions you can ignore:
- "Treat other people, including those of different backgrounds, beliefs, and gender, with fairness and respect?"
- "Demonstrate flexibility by adapting to diverse environments?"
- Keep an open mind to diverse ideas and new ways of thinking?
- Here is a list of questions you can ignore:
- Review the finalized report with your supervisor. The report will be compiled with both yours and your supervisor's answers. Use this opportunity to set goals together as you determine the skills you need to improve on to become career-ready.
*Please confirm your FERPA Consent and SkillSurvey deadlines with your supervisor.
**If you do not feel comfortable providing your information to be uploaded to SkillSurvey, please still fill out the FERPA Consent Form and select “I do not consent, I do not wish for the stated information to be released.” This will alert student employment, and we will work with your supervisor to determine an alternate career readiness assessment to be completed together.
SkillSurvey FAQs
How do I remove an Evaluator from my list?
Once the notification emails have been sent, Evaluators cannot be deleted. Please note that an Evaluator's lack of response does not stop the process from moving forward. If you know that an Evaluator will not be responding, please reach out to studentemployment@weber.edu
If I do not have an Evaluator's email address, how do I enter the Evaluator?
The system depends on email to deliver survey links. If you are unsure of their email address, ask your supervisor.
How do I update my Evaluator's email address?
To change an Evaluator's e-mail address, navigate to your My Evaluators page in SkillSurvey and click the “Edit Evaluator” icon beside the Evaluator's information.
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer and the Edit Evaluator icon is not working for you, please press the broken page icon in your address bar (aka Compatibility Button) and try the Edit Evaluator icon again.
What does the status assigned to my Evaluator mean?
- Entered But Not Sent status means that the Evaluator has been input into the system but no email has been sent to request feedback. Click the Send Email to Evaluator(s) button to send the email and change the status to Waiting for Evaluator.
- Pending status means the email was already sent to the Evaluator
- Waiting for Evaluator status means that the email has been sent and we are waiting for the Evaluator's response. The Resend Evaluator Email icon is available if you need to send another copy of the email to the Evaluator.
- Bounced status means that the email came back to us with an error and was not delivered.
- Completed status means that we have received the Evaluator's response to the survey.
