Bachelor of Science in Athletic Therapy

As an athletic therapy major, you’ll prepare for graduate studies in athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician's assistant, medicine, or one of many other fields while gaining a strong foundation in orthopedics and working one-on-one with professionals.

Please note, students who graduate from this program will not be eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam to become a Certified Athletic Trainer.

You will also complete one or more internships to explore your graduate field of study and take prerequisites needed for your graduate program of choice, such as chemistry, physics, biology and psychology.

Our bachelor’s degree in athletic therapy is a pre-professional program, designed to help you prepare for your graduate degree in areas such as:

  • Athletic training (AT)
  • Physical therapy (PT)
  • Occupational therapy (OT)
  • Physician’s assistant programs (PA)
  • Medicine (MD or DO)

Degree Information


  • A total of 120 credit hours is required for graduation; 40 of which must be upper-division (courses numbered 3000 and above).
  • A minimum grade of B- must be earned in all athletic therapy major courses, and a grade of C or better must be earned in all support courses and electives.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for all required courses in this major.
