Arts Outreach

The Book Arts Program promotes involvement with the art of the book by facilitating community programming for adults and the K-12 community of learners and educators, exhibitions that celebrate and explore both the traditional and innovative arts of the book and studio access for those who have completed foundation courses.

One of the longest-running programs of the StateWide Art Partnership (SWAP) is the Evening for Educators series. These events are held on average once a month during the academic year at locations across the state of Utah. Evening for Educators feature keynote speakers, hands-on workshops, networking opportunities, and free educational materials designed to help teachers integrate the night’s theme into their curriculum. Teachers may receive inservice credit for attending these events.

Treehouse educational tour programs are designed with learning in mind. Our unique activities, centered around our exhibits, compliment classroom lessons and support the Utah State Core Curriculum. Our educational tours provide supplemental activities not offered to our general public visitors.

Ballet West is committed to providing quality education programs that allow teachers and students of all ages to experience the joy and magic of live ballet regardless of financial or geographical barriers. The Ballet West Educational and Outreach program has four main components: I CAN DO, Ballet West for Children, Ballet West In-Theatre Performances and First Look.

RDT’s commitment to Arts-in-Education has created award winning activities: Matinee Performances, Lecture Demonstrations (in schools), Workshops, Classes, and Mentoring opportunities that inspire tens of thousands of students and teachers each year. Curriculum material relating to history, music, art and the environment help students make stimulating and valuable connections, enabling them to appreciate and understand the world.

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company offers many workshops and matinee performances for teachers and students throughout the year.

The Professional Development Program provides a framework for educators to engage in teaching and learning activities that support the needs of their students while implementing the Utah State Fine Arts Core Curriculum and prevailing state and federal mandates.

Plan-B is the only professional theatre company in Utah creating new work specifically for elementary students. Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre is very proud of our education outreach program Opera by Children, which has provided training for teachers and in-class mentoring for over 75,000 children to create their own operas in a classroom setting.

The FilmEDU Programs introduce students and teachers to the power of film as a teaching resource and improves students’ media literacy through film screenings, discussions, workshops, and classroom lessons that will increase student engagement, comprehension, and critical thinking while supporting core curriculum requirements for arts education.

The Utah Symphony | Utah Opera Education Department creates and oversees music outreach opportunities for audiences of all ages. For students and teachers, we offer both opera and symphony assembly programs, with associated in-depth extensions of the performances.
