Lindquist College Scholarships
The following is a list of scholarships administered by the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. Please check with individual departments for other award opportunities. Unless otherwise noted, the scholarships are intended for undergraduate students.

Blakeley, Marilyn B & LuJean W. (DPA or FLANG)
- Open to majors or minors in the departments of performing arts or foreign languages with an overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher
- The purpose of this endowment is to provide annual scholarships to worthy students majoring in performing arts and foreign languages at WSU.
- The dean of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities is to manage the distribution of earnings so that the Department of Performing Arts and Department of Foreign Languages students receive the scholarship on alternating years.
- Earnings may be used as soon as they are available for scholarships.

Briem, Edith Gidney
- Must have a declared major in the College of Arts & Humanities and be able to demonstrate academic excellence
- To be used for tuition and fees only

Browning, Matthew S. Nontraditional
- The scholarship recipient must be a nontraditional student with a declared major in any department of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities and an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. Recipient may be an undergraduate or graduate student at any class level, resident or non-resident and enrolled full- or part-time. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate service to the community, to students who indicate they have financial need through their application (financial need does not have to be demonstrated through FAFSA) and to students with children under the age of 18.
- The scholarship may be awarded to the same student(s) for multiple years, as long as recipient(s) continue to meet the required criteria.
- Can be used for tuition, fees, books or other educational supplies

Carroll, LaVon Humanities
- The scholarship recipient must have a declared major or minor in any field of the humanities within the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
- The recipient shall be selected through applications by a committee appointed by the dean of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
- The scholarship may be awarded to the same student(s) for multiple years, as long as the recipient continues to meet the required criteria.
- Can be used for tuition, fees, books or other educational supplies.

College of Arts & Humanities
- The scholarship recipient must be a student within the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
- Recipients will be selected by the dean of the College of Arts & Humanities or his/her designee(s).
- The purpose of this scholarship is to support deserving students in the college.
- To be used for tuition, fees (class and department fees are included), books or other educational expenses deemed appropriate by the dean

Davidson, Tom & Nancy
- The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student with a declared major in the College of Arts & Humanities, have a 2.5 GPA or higher and demonstrate financial need.
- Can be used for tuition and fees (class and department fees are not included)

Droubay, Rosie
- The scholarship recipient must have a declared major in any department of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities and an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. Recipients may be undergraduate or graduate students at any class level, resident or non-resident, and may be enrolled full- or part-time. Preference will be given to students who indicate they have financial need through their application. (Financial need does not have to be demonstrated through FAFSA.)
- Recipients do not have to be U.S. citizens. Recipients shall be selected through nominations and applications by a committee made of up faculty from each department of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities, as appointed by the dean.
- Scholarship may be awarded in full to one student or as partial scholarships to more than one student. Scholarship may be awarded to the same student(s) for multiple years, as long as the recipient continues to meet the required criteria.
- Can be used for tuition, fees, books or other educational supplies.

Eccles, Joseph Merrill & Ellen Scowcroft (DOVAD, DPA, or ENGL)
- The scholarship recipient must have a declared major in visual arts, performing arts or literature.
- This scholarship is to be awarded by the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.

Farver, Shane Multimedia (COMM)
- The scholarship recipient must be an undergraduate student at any level majoring in public relations, multimedia journalism or digital media and must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The recipient must be able to demonstrate proficiency in multimedia work in written, audio, video and online/social media communications, and may be a resident or non-resident and may be enrolled full- or part-time. Preference may be given to students with financial need.
- Students must apply to the Department of Communication by submitting an application and examples of their multimedia work in a format defined by the department. A scholarship committee, designated by chair of the Department of Communication, shall review applications and select the recipient(s). Scholarship may be awarded in full to one student or as partial scholarships to multiple students, based on available funds each year. Minimum amount awarded to any one student to be no less than $500. Scholarship may be awarded to the same student(s) for multiple years, as long as the recipient continues to meet required criteria. WSU will report annually on use of funds and provide awardee’s name and other pertinent information to Shane Farver or his designee.

Hall, Edna Ione
- The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student majoring, minoring or taking classes within the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities during the year of the award. Preference will be given to international, out-of-state or minority students, and/or students with financial need. The recipient may be an incoming or continuing student.
- Recipients will be selected through screening of applications and nominations by a committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities. The size and number of awards will be determined annually based on the fund balance. If awarded to the same student for multiple years, the student must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher throughout the year(s) of the award. If no nominees are qualified, the award will be held for the following year.

Hughes, William & Barbara Morrell-Hughes
- The scholarship recipient must be a graduate or undergraduate student with a declared major in the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities and an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference will be given to single parents. For undergraduate applicants, preference will also be given to those who qualify for financial aid.
- The scholarship may be awarded to the same student for multiple years, as long as recipient continues to meet the required criteria.

Kenley, Anya (DPA & ENGL)
- The scholarship recipient must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA throughout the academic year, and be a full-time junior or senior with a declared major in English or the performing arts. It shall be awarded to students who exhibit native talent and ability, along with an earnest desire to learn, comprehend and create.
- Two scholarships are to be awarded annually through the dean's office within the College of Arts and Humanities, one in English and one in performing arts. When interest earnings are sufficient, more than one scholarship may be awarded in each department or a special merit award (books or fees) may be made to another deserving candidate. When possible, the awards shall be made in consultation with Mrs. Julie Kenley. Each scholarship recipient will receive a copy of the Anya Kenley biographical sketch. Recipients may not apply for an additional year.

Lindquist Creative & Artistic Endeavors
- The scholarship recipients must be part- or full-time students, have creative talent in arts or humanities at high school or university levels, academic ability and financial need.
- Scholarships will be awarded through screening of applications and nominations by WSU faculty. The eligibility of applicants/nominees for these scholarships will be judged on the basis of:
- Creative talent in arts or humanities demonstrated at high school or university levels
- Academic ability
- Can be used for tuition and fees

Price, Raymond & Beth Winkler (A&H or Athletics)
- The scholarship recipient must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and be an undergraduate student athlete or student majoring in arts and humanities or cultural arts. The award will alternate each year between these two areas. Recipients may be resident or non-resident students. Preference will be given to students who exhibit financial need.
- The recipient shall be selected through applications by a committee appointed by the director of athletics, or (in alternate years) by a committee appointed by the dean of the Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. The scholarship may be awarded to one or more students each year, based on available funds.

Stafford, Helen Cortez (COMM)
- The scholarship recipient must be majoring in communications with an emphasis in journalism and writing and have financial need.
- This scholarship is to be awarded annually by the Department of Communications chairman and scholarship committee. The recipient is to be selected by worthiness and need.
