WSU Library Features Best Work of Utah Designers

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University Friends of the Stewart Library presents “Design Arts Utah,” part of Utah Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibition Program on display in the library until Dec. 17.

Design is the creative beginning of any human-initiated arrangement of materials. The work of designers surrounds us: The clothes we wear, the products we use and the buildings where we live and work are just a few examples.

This display showcases some of the best designs selected from Design Arts Utah exhibitions of the previous 11 years. The Design Arts Program and the yearly exhibitions, held in Salt Lake City, feature the best of Utah designers selected by jurors from across the United States. Design concepts and objects included in the exhibit vary from toys to modes of transportation to building design and demonstrate the work and importance of design to the everyday experience.

“The exhibit allows students, particularly in WSU’s College of Engineering & Science Technology, to view a technical design from concept to patent to competition,” said Jamie Weeks, University Archives & Digital Collections associate curator.

The library is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m.-11 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-9 p.m. For more information on the exhibition, call 801-626-6486 or go to library.weber.edu/ref/more/events.cfm.
