Weber State’s homecoming celebrations connect students, community
OGDEN, Utah —Students and community members are ready to show off their school spirit at Weber State University’s homecoming celebrations today through Oct. 14. Classic events include a pep rally, Light the W and a football game.
“I’ve always loved homecoming week,” said Ashley Potokar, student body president. “It’s a great time to really show your Wildcat pride and fall in love with the school.”
Homecoming is also the start of Make Ogden Purple, an initiative that encourages the community to show their support for Weber State.
Make Ogden Purple serves as a visual reminder for the community of collaboration between Ogden City and Weber State. During homecoming week, the city is decorated with WSU banners, flyers and art to “purple up” Ogden. Community members and businesses can show their support with decorations, wearing WSU gear and participating in events such as the Purple Paw Parade.
“Homecoming is a great way to join the community,” Potokar said. “The most important thing is to come, have a good time and become a part of the Wildcat family.”
The football game against UC Davis on Oct.14 will begin at 6 p.m. with Homecoming Fan Fest before the game at 4:30 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
The Wildcat community can showcase their support for the university on Instagram by tagging @MakeOgdenPurple or using #MakeOgdenPurple on Twitter and Facebook.
