Weber State theatre student finds job, second home on campus

This fall, Weber State University welcomed nearly 3,700 first-time students. This story is part four of a five-part series exploring who they are, why they chose WSU and what they envision for their future.

Chloe Warnas recently graduated from Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah, but chose to attend Weber State at the recommendation of her mom, a WSU alum in psychology. After a campus tour, Chloe “fell in love” with the school and its people.

Chloe Warnas smiles for a photo outside on Weber State's Ogden campus. Now she’s the one giving those tours with her on-campus job as a WSU admissions ambassador.

“It’s fun to personalize tours for each student, pointing out that no matter what you want to pursue, there’s a place for you here,” she said. “I talk about all the amazing resources available, especially for freshmen.”

Warnas scored a departmental scholarship for musical theatre and is also studying dance: “The reason I chose theatre is because I can tell stories that change lives. This program helps you grow as a person, but also as a member of society.”

This month, Warnas is part of the WSU production of Alice by Heart, a role she said stretches her acting abilities as she plays a variety of characters.

With her busy schedule and campus job, Warnas took advantage of living in student housing, where she feels closer to the WSU community. “The faculty really care about the student life and the wellness of everyone who goes here.”
