Weber State gears up for week of homecoming celebrations
OGDEN, Utah — With homecoming week right around the corner, Weber State University is ready to unleash Wildcat pride from Oct. 4–12.
“Homecoming is a time to celebrate and create new friendships,” said Emily Sorenson, student body president. “It’s a great, great, great time!”
Weber State’s annual homecoming celebration allows students and the community to come together to carry on traditions including Light the W, a tailgate and a football game.
Due to the ongoing installation of a permanent flaming W on Mount Ogden, this year’s Light the W will have some extra flair. The WSU Student Association will host a drone show Oct. 7 from 6–8 p.m. at Stewart Stadium, which will include food trucks and games.
On Oct. 12, a free tailgate will be held from 4–5:45 p.m. at the Stewart Stadium north parking lot. Anyone is welcome to join the Weber State community in showing off school spirit before the game.
Following the tailgate, WSU football will take on Northern Colorado at 6 p.m. at Stewart Stadium. The game is free for all WSU students, with general admission starting at $11 for the public. Tickets can be purchased on the Weber State Ticket Office website.

Oct. 4
WSU Student Association hosts an inaugural Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza. Enjoy live music, yard games and free food for the first 100 students.
Oct. 4–12
WSU Campus Recreation hosts a virtual Homecoming Recycle Run, a virtual 5K to celebrate homecoming and promote sustainability. Free for WSU students, $5 for alumni, faculty and staff, $10 for the community.
Oct. 5
WSU Alumni Association hosts the fourth annual Purple Paw Parade, 9 a.m. to noon in downtown Ogden, free. Register on the Alumni Association website.
Weber World Cup Soccer Tournament, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m at the Weber State Practice Field near Wildcat Village. All teams are welcome. Register through the Weber Soccer World Cup Registration form.
WSU volleyball vs. Montana State, 6 p.m. at Swenson Gym, free for all WSU students, general admission starting at $5. Purchase tickets on the Weber State Ticket Office website.
Oct. 7
WSU Student Association hosts a Wildcat Pep Rally, 12:15 p.m. at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza, free.
WSU Student Association hosts Light the W, 6–8 p.m. at Stewart Stadium, free.
Oct. 8
WSU Student Association hosts Old Hollywood Casino Nights, 6–9 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballrooms, free.
Oct. 9
The Center of Community Engaged Learning hosts Service Day of Remembrance, free. Students, faculty and staff are invited to serve the community in various ways. Multiple volunteer opportunities are scheduled throughout the day.
WSU hosts Eddie’s BBQ, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza, free. All are invited to come together to discuss current community issues such as physical and mental safety, advocacy and safety resources. Free food for the first 100 people.
WSU Campus Recreation hosts Rec Night, 6–9 p.m. at the Stromberg Complex, free with an active Wildcard. Enjoy a swim in the purple pool, special group exercise classes, prize giveaways and other activities.
Oct. 10
Pride Art Competition, 2–3 p.m. in Shepherd Union Room 326. Attendance required for entry into competition.
Oct. 11
WSU Alumni Association hosts WSU Salutes reception and awards ceremony, 6–9 p.m., free. Attendees are invited to celebrate and recognize WSU’s outstanding alumni and friends. A reception with light refreshments begins at 6 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Atrium. The awards program begins at 7 p.m. in the Val A. Browning Center Austad Auditorium.
WSU Student Association hosts the Enchanted Homecoming Dance, 8–11:30 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Ballrooms, free. Fantasy-inspired attire is encouraged.
Oct. 12
WSU hosts a tailgate at 4–5:45 p.m. in the Stewart Stadium North Parking lot, free.
