Haven J. Barlow Parkway Opens at WSU Davis Campus

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication for the new Haven J. Barlow Parkway entrance at the WSU Davis campus (2750 N. University Park Blvd., Layton), Aug. 31 at 10:30 a.m.

Weber State recently opened the new entrance off State Route 193, giving visitors to WSU Davis a second way to access the campus.

“The entrance is a wonderful addition to our Davis campus,” said Julie Snowball, assistant vice president of regional partnerships and director of WSU Davis. “Sen. Barlow has contributed to Weber State in so many ways, and we are proud to celebrate his service to the community by naming this new entrance in honor of him.”

As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Barlow will drive Weber State’s purple Tesla along the parkway. Barlow will celebrate his 100th birthday on Jan. 4, 2022.

Barlow served in the Utah Legislature from 1953-1995 and served as Senate President for three terms. In his public service, Barlow had a strong commitment to education, and especially to Weber State. He was a primary driver in transitioning Weber State from a two-year college to a four-year institution and then on to a university. He was also instrumental in securing the funding to establish WSU Davis.

The dedication and ribbon-cutting will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the outdoor plaza on the north side of the Stewart Center. Guests can access the event by walking north through the Stewart Center lobby. Parking is available in the W12 lot.
