WSU Board of Trustees appoints new chair, 4 new members
OGDEN, Utah — Ogden native and former corporate executive and legal counsel for Citigroup Karla Bergeson was elected as chair of Weber State University’s Board of Trustees at its annual orientation meeting today.
Bergeson, who was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2017 and served as vice chair since 2021, thanked the board members for their trust in her leadership.
“I am honored and privileged to serve as chair of Weber State University’s Board of Trustees,” Bergeson said. “I look forward to working with this amazing team of trustees and doing everything in our power to better foster student success. One way our board can help our students succeed is to continue to build on WSU’s successful collaborations with the community, businesses, local schools and Hill Air Force Base.”
She succeeds Kearston Cutrubus, who has led the board since 2021. Bergeson is a former executive vice president and deputy general counsel for Citigroup’s credit card business in the U.S., where she worked for 23 years before retiring and returning home to Utah. She received an honorary degree from Weber State and delivered the commencement address in 2017. She said she’s also proud to serve on Weber State’s National Advisory Council.
Weber State alum Keith Titus was elected as the board’s vice chair. Titus is president and CEO at MarketStar, an Ogden-based global sales organization, and joined the board in 2021. He also serves on the Ogden School District Foundation and the WSU National Advisory Council.
Eight of the university’s 10 trustees are appointed by Utah’s governor and approved by the Utah Senate before being sworn in. Appointees are eligible to serve two four-year terms.
Four new members also joined the board at its Aug. 14 meeting:
-
Lori Belnap Pehrson, retired Northrop Grumman executive and member of WSU’s National Advisory Council
