Weber State to offer on-site classes, graduate programs at Hill Air Force Base
LAYTON, Utah — A new partnership between Weber State University and Hill Air Force Base is expanding education opportunities for military personnel, their families and civilian employees by offering master’s degree programs on the base.
Starting this fall, WSU will become the first public university in the state to be part of an airbase education program.
Representatives from WSU and Hill Air Force Base held a signing ceremony at WSU Davis on July 1 to celebrate the partnership.
“Weber State is dedicated to the mission of supporting Hill Air Force Base and the Air Force,” said WSU President Brad Mortensen. “Not just because it’s good for our economy and creates good opportunities for our students, but because it’s good for our national defense and our freedom.”
The university has worked collaboratively with Hill Air Force Base to identify and offer degrees that are in high demand for both enlisted and civilian employees, including a Master of Business Administration and Master of Health Administration. Additionally, WSU will offer a non-credit certificate in project management, which helps prepare students to take a project management certification exam.
Classes will be held in Hill Air Force Base’s Education & Training Office building and will be open to anyone with base access, which includes active duty military personnel, dependents, retirees and approximately 40,000 civilians employed throughout the base.
“We need every airman to be able to fulfill their personal and professional potential,” said Col. Jeffrey Holland, 75th Air Base Wing and installation commander at Hill Air Force Base. “It’s partnerships with our educational institutions like Weber State that make that possible.”
WSU will adjust and add graduate degree programs based on demand, with the possibility of expanding offerings to include a variety of certificates, associate’s and bachelor’s programs in the future.
