Social Science Building's 40th Anniversary Events

Free Lecture, Open House and Student-Faculty Reunion

As part of the Social Science Building’s 40th Anniversary celebrations, the college together with Campus Stores will host Brooks Donohue Simpson, a renowned Civil War historian, to present his lecture, “The Civil War: Reflections at the Sesquicentennial.”

The lecture will be held Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in WSU's Elizabeth Hall 229. The event is free, and the public is welcome.

Also, you are invited back to the halls of the Social Science Building to join old friends for a free open house and student-faculty reunion.

The open house will be held Friday, Nov. 8 from 5-7 p.m. The student-faculty reunion will take place the same evening from 7-8:30 p.m.

Each department and program in the College of Social & Behavioral Sciences will offer fun, interactive activities for the whole family to enjoy. Take a trip back in history, get a real look at crime scene investigation, explore geocaching, participate in a kids’ archeology dig, play games and win fun prizes.

Following the open house, former and current faculty will be on hand so you can visit and share memories. Turn in any missed assignments that have haunted you over the years, or simply express in person your appreciation to professors who changed your life.

This is your chance to discover early plans for a new Social Science Building and share your input.

It’s a great week of social science fun and alumni fever.
