Training and Resources

Safe@Weber Violence Prevention Education envisions a future where all relationships are healthy and built upon a foundation of safety and respect. WSU provides comprehensive violence prevention training, including online options, workshops and a self defense course taught by Weber State Police, RAD. We provide training for both students and employees.

Safe@Weber Online Training

Weber State University offers free, online violence prevention training. All students, faculty and staff are expected to complete this program. The course includes information on Title IX, the Clery Act, healthy relationships, relationship abuse, gender roles, sexual harassment, stalking, consent, reporting and how to help a friend.

Students can find this program by logging into the Weber ePortal and searching for the Safe@Weber for Students app. 

Employees can find this program by logging into the Weber ePortal and searching for the Safe@Weber for Faculty and Staff app.

Don't Be Afraid to Catch Feels: Healthy Relationship & Consent Series

This workshop will help participants improve communication skills, effectively set boundaries, understand consent and navigate breaking up and app-based dating. This workshop gives participants a way to reflect on their choices when it comes to relationships and gain a deeper understanding of what they want to gain from their relationships with other people. Topics include starting relationships, consent, breaking up and dating via apps.

Consent in LGBTQ+ Communities 

LGBTQ individuals aren’t always provided examples of healthy relationships and models of consent that are relevant to their experiences. This curriculum is the result of two years of research by the Safe@Weber LGBTQ+ grant team, funded by the Utah Department of Health.

CARE: Bystander Intervention

How many times have you witnessed something that just doesn't feel right, but you don’t really know what to do about it? Most of us say we would step in to help a friend or to stop someone from being hurt, but do we know how to do that? Be empowered with the knowledge and skills to effectively assist in the prevention of violence. This workshop will answer these questions and will leave participants knowing what they can do to help stop violence before it occurs.

It's Not Just Physical: Emotional Abuse 

Domestic and dating violence isn’t always physical. This presentation reviews the definition of emotional abuse and covers how to identify the abuse cycle and different forms of emotional abuse, the effects of that abuse, and what resources are available.

Gender Socialization, Violence and Prevention

We all have a role in preventing violence! This workshop explores gender role socialization, media representation, what you can do about it, becoming an active bystander, and collective prevention building.

Learn about Safe@Weber Advocacy Services, and how you can support a survivor of sexual misconduct (sexual assault, rape, sexual harassment, dating/domestic violence, stalking) in a trauma-informed and empowering manner.

Safe@Weber provides educational programming, training, and workshops throughout the year addressing violence issues including sexual assault, partner or domestic violence, harassment, and stalking.
