Advocacy & Violence Prevention Staff

Jess has worked at WSU’s Safe@Weber since Summer 2019 as the Safe@Weber Advocate, and now is the Program Administrator. Before WSU, Jess worked as a shelter services advocate at the Domestic Violence Intervention Program in Iowa City as well as a Healthy Relationships and Art Instructor at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women. Jess has earned her Master’s of Fine Arts in Sculpture, Master’s of Arts in Intermedia Art, and a Graduate Certificate in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies from the University of Iowa. Jess is also an AMGA-certified climbing instructor and has created trauma-informed rock climbing clinics for survivors. She is passionate about the connections between advocacy, rock climbing, and art. Jess loves supporting survivors and is also an avid backpacker, hiker, and dog mom.

Katelyn has worked at Weber State University since 2018, first as an hourly student and for the last three years as the Administrative Specialist for Safe@Weber. As a student of Weber State, she is currently finishing her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. An Ogden native, Katelyn is passionate about her community and is devoted to education, social issues and advocacy. Outside of the office, you can find her in the aerial dance studio, traveling to new places, with her nose in a book, baking, and out exploring nature with her dogs.

An alum of Weber State, Mercedes received her Bachelor of Political Science and Women & Gender Studies in 2017 and Master of Professional Communication in 2023. She has been working in the victim advocacy and violence prevention realm for 10 years in the higher education and nonprofit sectors in both Utah and Alabama. In her free time, Mercedes enjoys reading, writing, singing, dancing, kickboxing, and obsessing over her calico, Georgie. 

Emily is the newest member of the Safe@Weber team, and comes with a background of advocacy for the past three years, and a passion for education. Originally hailing from the Central Valley of California, Emily got her Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a Family Life minor in 2019, and recently started an online Master’s of Sociology program through Texas A&M Commerce. When not at work, she is often cross-stitching, listening to music, watching 90’s horror films, being near water, experimenting with food, or talking as fast as a Gilmore Girl.

Annabelle Durham has been working at Safe@Weber since January 2023. She is currently working towards a BA in Musical Theatre and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. As a queer, disabled feminist, Annabelle is passionate about helping those voices who aren’t heard as often and advocating for accessibility and equality in all aspects of personal and professional life. Aside from Safe@Weber, Annabelle is usually involved in the latest WSU theatre department production, as well as serving on the Associated Artists of the Theatre board as the Treasurer. She loves all things Broadway (and will happily rattle off obscure theatre facts at the drop of a hat), Jonathan Groff, music, and history. In her free time loves to cook, go thrift shopping, or play board games with her family.

Pamela Nunez has worked at Safe@Weber since January 2023. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies. She was raised bilingual in Guadalajara, Jalisco and moved to Utah in 2021. Being a lesbian woman and having experienced Mexican-American culture all her life, Pam values authenticity and recognizes the challenges that come with balancing different aspects of identity. In her free time, Pam enjoys painting, drawing, listening to new music, podcasts, or cuddling with her cats Mandarino and Kiwi. 

This is Hannah’s third year of working at Safe@Weber. Currently, Hannah is majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Professional Sales. She strives to create accessible and safe spaces through her education and work ethic. Hannah is known for her dedication to listening to music, not only in her day-to-day life, but through the multitude of concerts she attends each year. In her spare time you can find her reading, cooking, watching a show, or playing with her cute baby puppy, Meatball.

Brittney has worked as a Safe@Weber Peer Educator since August 2023. She is pursuing a bachelors in Sociology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. During her time as a peer educator Brittneys goal is to be engaged on campus and help spread knowledge, awareness, and passion when it comes to all aspects of campus safety. She is eager to continue her knowledge on feminism, society, and political issues. She loves the outdoors, animals and to talk about all forms of activism. 

Aubrey has been working at Safe@Weber since August 2022, as a Safe@Weber Peer Educator. They are currently working on their bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, with a minor in German with the goal of one day working in curation and conservation in museums. Aubrey is dedicated to creating a space in the Anthropology and Historical fields for marginalized communities and helping to highlight their experiences in human history. They are an avid reader and love to engage in storytelling through DnD and podcasting, as well as involving themselves in the performing arts.
