PN to RN Admission & Selection

Welcome Students

A limited number of students are accepted to our Practical to Registered Nursing Program each year. This enables WSU to provide the quality clinical experience and skill set this growing field requires.

How to Apply

Admission Requirements

You must complete the prerequisite classes needed for the PN to RN Program by the time the programs starts (6 total). See applicant checklist for minimums and the 6 prerequisites.

All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to beginning the nursing program.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

If you have 2 or more years of work experience as a practical nurse, the cumulative GPA requirement is 2.5, as long as your nursing GPA is still 3.0 or higher.

  • Intended for licensed practical nurses currently working OR those having successfully graduated from an accredited Practical Nursing program and are eligible for licensure,  our Practical to Registered Nursing Program allows you to earn an Associate of Applied Science (68 credit hours) or Associate of Science (86 credit hours) and prepare for entry-level, clinical practice as a registered nurse.

(Successful completion of course work does not guarantee admission to nursing programs)
