Chief Sustainability Officer, University of Utah

Kerry Case serves as the University of Utah’s first full-time Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, she provides senior administrative leadership for planning and implementation of institutional sustainability efforts across all areas of the university. She oversees the work of the Sustainability Office and its research arm, the Global Change and Sustainability Center (GCSC), as well as efforts to incorporate sustainability into the academic curriculum. Kerry has been working to improve sustainability in Utah’s higher education institutions for nearly 20 years. Prior to joining the University of Utah, she was the Assistant Provost for Integrative Learning at Westminster College, where she started and directed their Environmental Center. Before that, she directed Utah State University’s sustainable building demonstration and learning center. Kerry has taught undergraduate courses in Urban Agriculture, Sustainability, Environmental Rhetoric, Environmental Humanities, and Green Careers. She has a B.A. in English from the University of Colorado and an M.A. in Environmental Studies and Certificate in Non-Profit Management from the University of Oregon.
