Patty Karapinar is Director of Sustainability and Associate Architect with Architectural Nexus, with 34 years of professional experience focusing on educational and civic projects. Patty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design from the University of California at Davis, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon. LEED-AP since 2001, Patty has served as Project Administrator for many LEED and Collaborative for High Performance Schools projects and advises Living Building Challenge project teams. Patty was responsible for Materials Petal compliance, including utilizing her healthy materials selection expertise, for the Living Building Challenge-Ready Arch Nexus SLC Regen - Nexus’s Salt Lake City office, and for the Arch Nexus SAC adaptive reuse, the first certified Living Building in California. She provides sustainability guidance to project teams, conducts sustainability training, and manages Nexus’s AIA 2030 Commitment. She is a member of the AIA COTE/ILFI Sacramento Collaborative.
