Women of Color Coalition (WOCC)

The Women of Color Coalition (WOCC) is an organization for higher education professionals at Weber State University. The purpose of this organization is to address the concerns of Women of Color working at Weber State University, further a greater understanding of the social and political climate faced by the Women of Color community, and to promote a sense of belonging, cultural awareness, leadership development, and the academic and professional advancement of Women of Color.

Utah Women in Higher Education Network (UWHEN) - Weber State Chapter

Utah Women in Higher Education Network WSU Chapter exists to provide a welcoming community in which all women’s voices are heard and contributions are valued. Our chapter advocates for an inclusive climate that shapes the institutional and public agenda for higher education.

The chapter exists to promote inclusion and leadership roles for women in higher education. Specifically to:

  • Increase the visibility, recognition, and advancement for women in higher education leadership.
  • Promote and support women’s professional and leadership development.
  • Work collaboratively to identify and drive needed change to support female faculty and staff.
  • Create venues for networking as well as venues for amplifying women’s voices, perspectives, and ideas.
  • Cultivate a community in higher education where women are supported and celebrated.

Faculty/Staff Gay-Straight Alliance

The purpose of the WSU Faculty/Staff Gay-Straight Alliance is to:
Develop a strong visible presence through publicity and networks across campus and in the community.
Promote awareness, education and respect.
Coordinate with programs and processes already in place.
Advocate by issuing, from time to time, statements in favor of or objecting to political actions as they affect Weber State and/or the larger community.
Support undergraduate student research, staff programing and faculty curriculum development.
Recognize outstanding students, staff, faculty and community partners and present awards to faculty or staff for research and/or service.
Fund grants for students in need of such things as books, emergency housing, conferencing or travel to survey or participate in LBGT programs.
Rejoice and thrive in who we are and build a sense of community through social events for individuals and families.
