Anaerobic Testing

Anaerobic power is used for short, fast bursts of energy such as during a sprint event. We are able to asses anaerobic power using the Wingate test.

Wingate

Details: The Wingate test involves 30 seconds of all-out cycling at a set resistance which is determined by your weight, sex, and age. As soon as you finish cycling, your blood lactate level is assessed by drawing a minimal amount of blood through a finger stick. Then the results are compared to how many revolutions you were able to cycle in the 30 seconds. You will be advised to continue moving for several minutes to avoid nausea from the production of lactate in your muscles.

Instructions: To ensure the most accurate results as possible, please

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing (athletic attire is recommended).
  • Wear appropriate footwear.
  • Make sure that you are well-hydrated before the test.
  • Make sure that you are well-rested before the test.
