Honors Information

GPA Honors

GPA Honors at Graduation is based on a student’s cumulative Weber State University grade point average.  GPA honor recognitions are indicated in the commencement program, on the diploma and transcript.  GPA Honor categories for the Commencement Program are determined by a student's cumulative WSU GPA at the time the Commencement Program is printed.  A student's final WSU GPA honor category is determined by their cumulative WSU GPA at degree posting time.

Students who qualify for GPA Honors at Graduation may pick up a honor cord with their cap and gown.  Details of exact dates and times will appear in the commencement links. Students belonging to a private or national honor society should contact the honor society concerning any academic regalia.

University, Departmental, and General Honors at Graduation, for eligible students, is also indicated in the commencement program, on the diploma and transcript. Students should contact the Honors Program for additional information.


GPA Honor Categories

Bachelor Degrees- Purple and White Cords

  • Summa Cum Laude
    • WSU GPA of 3.9 or higher
  • Magna Cum Laude
    • WSU GPA of 3.8 or higher
  • Cum Laude
    • WSU GPA of 3.6 or higher

Associate Degrees- Purple and White cords

  • High Honors
    • WSU GPA of 3.85 or higher
  • Honors
    • WSU GPA of 3.6 or higher

Note: There are no GPA Honors for Master degrees or Certificates.
