Scholarships & Aid Programs for Former Home-Schooled Students

The following scholarships are available for new freshman/former home-schooled students in need of tuition assistance.

New Freshmen Residents: Academic Scholarships

Utah residents who were home-schooled and do not have a high school GPA from an accredited high school can earn academic scholarships based on their ACT Composite score (or SAT equivalent).

Priority Deadlines:

  • Priority date to submit the admissions application, high school transcripts and test scores to the Admissions Office: Feb. 1
  • Priority date to accept below academic scholarships: May 1

→Presidential Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award fully covers all in-state tuition with an approximate value of $26,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score of 29 or higher
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA
  • Register for and successfully complete 3 credits of Honors classes in your first academic year (this could be one 3-credit class or three 1-credit classes)

→Trustees Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $3,500 ($1,750 per semester) is applied to in-state tuition with a total value of $14,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score between 26-28 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

→Deans Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $2,000 ($1,000 per semester) is applied to in-state tuition with a total value of $8,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score between 23–25 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

Merit Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $1,500 ($750 per semester) is applied to in-state tuition and general student fees with a total value of $6,000

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Meet the WSU scholarship index score of 105-113 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

Success Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $1000 ($500 per semester) is applied to in-state tuition with a total value of $4,000

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Meet the WSU scholarship index score of 99-104 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

New Freshmen Nonresidents: Academic Scholarships

Nonresident students who were home-schooled and do not have a high school GPA from an accredited high school can earn academic scholarships based on their ACT composite score (or SAT equivalent). 

Priority Deadlines:

  • Priority date to submit the admissions application, high school transcripts and test scores to the Admissions Office: Feb. 1
  • Priority date to accept below academic scholarships: May 1

→Mt. Ogden Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $9,000 ($4,500 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $36,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score of 29 or higher (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

→Golden Spike Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $8,000 ($4,000 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $32,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score between 26–28 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA

→Waterfall Canyon Scholarship

This four-year (8 semester) award of $7,500 ($3,750 per semester) is applied to out-of-state tuition with a total value of $30,000.

To be eligible, new freshmen must:

  • Have an ACT composite score between 23–25 (determined yearly)
  • Maintain full-time status (12 credits) and a 2.5 WSU cumulative GPA
