Bachelor of Science

The Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science program has temporarily suspended applications pending program revision.


Weber State University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.

This program prepares you for your clinical application at a four-year degree level, teaching you the fundamental and technical skills needed to work in the growing interdisciplinary field of dental hygiene. Many students will purse their BS and AS in Dental Hygiene at the same time.


Admissions and enrollment into the WSU Dental Hygiene Bachelor of Science program requires an application, acceptance and a completed contract with the Dental Hygiene Department Chair.

Admissions Process

The following prerequisites must be completed for acceptance:

  • Successful completion of an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene program
  • National Board Examination and a regional or state practical exam
  • Maintenance of a current dental hygiene license

Application Requirements

  • Completion of four (4) years of high school or equivalent 
  • Completion of an Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene
  • Submission of all college and university transcripts 
  • Submission of the dental hygiene application form and attachments
  • Submission of required $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Application and acceptance to Weber State University in good academic standing

The following applications will NOT be reviewed:

  • Applicants that have prerequisite GPAs below 2.5, and/or a science GPA below 2.5
  • Applications that do not contain final grades on at least two (2) of the specific required science courses and at least four (4) of the additional prerequisite courses (six courses total)
  • Science courses that are 5 years or older

For 2019-2020, the estimated cost for the two-year Dental Hygiene Program is as follows: 

  • Tuition & fees: $6,000 ($3,000 x 2 semesters)
  • Instruments: $3,400
  • Loupes: $1,500
  • Textbooks: $800
  • Uniforms & shoes: $300
  • Professional Association Dues: $340
  • Exams & licensing fees: $2,000
  • Lab fees: $965

Total Estimated Cost $15,305
