This achievement indicator for the COMMUNITY core theme is about contributing to the regional CULTUREThe objective is that WSU facilitates economic development in the region through professional development and technical support

IIn addition to the large direct economic impact of a major university in the community, WSU is uniquely positioned to support local economic growth through focused research and technical support. The numbers of sponsored projects and the funding associated with those projects infuse funding and knowledge into the local economy. .

region

Acceptable achievement thresholds for metrics assessing this indicator are

  • Headcount participation in non-credit offerings will approximately equal 10 percent of institutional headcount.

  • The five-year moving average of businesses assisted through the Small Business Development Center will show a positive trend.

  • Rate of growth in sponsored projects funding will be on pace to reach $20 million in 2030

  • Percent of WSU grads able to fill state-identified, high-need occupations will meet or exceed 60%
