David E. Feller
Director of Woodwind Studies
David E. Feller is Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone and Director of Woodwind Studies at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
Feller is an active performer in numerous venues. On clarinet and saxophone, he performs regularly with the Ballet West Orchestra and Utah Chamber Artists. He is a first call sub with the Utah Symphony and recently performed as Principal Clarinet with that organization.
Feller is also a world-class doubler, performing on flute, piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, oboe, English horn and all saxophones. He has performed with numerous national touring companies including "Hello Dolly!" with Carol Channing, "Camelot" with Robert Goulet, "The Sound of Music" with Marie Osmond, "The Producer’s", "Young Frankenstein" and "Chorus Line" to name a few. He is also a regular with local theaters performing with Pioneer Theater and The Grand Theater both located in Salt Lake City. Besides his busy performing schedule, Feller is an accomplished studio musician having recorded on numerous CD’s, television commercials and movie sound tracks. In recording studios, Feller has recorded with such names as Danny Elfman, Les Hooper, Lex De Azevedo, Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon. He has also performed on stage with Ray Charles, Barry Manilow, Natalie Cole, Ben Vereen, The Temptations and The Moody Blues to name a few.
Feller is also active as a performer and manager for the Utah Saxophone Quartet. This group has served and performed on the Utah Performing Arts Tour which provides music and music education to numerous communities throughout the state of Utah. A recent double CD recording of this group with Tantara Records has sold close to 2000 copies.
Feller has donated his time and talents by performing at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and The Cathedral of the Madeline in Salt Lake City. He also performs without compensation with The Orchestra on Temple Square. This group, along with The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, performs a weekly television broadcast that is seen by millions throughout the United States and Canada. Feller has been a featured soloist with that organization.
