Research Areas of Interest

My MS and PhD research primarily focused on Communication Theory, Coding Theory and Computer Networks, resulting in several contributions. These include the development of Tail-Biting Convolutional Codes with ARQ Scheme, Memory Decoding Algorithm on Optical Transmitted Signals, and Mobility Protocol for WiFO (Hybrid WiFi and FSO) System. With both industry working experience and a background in Computer Engineering education, my current research now focuses on advancing ophthalmic image processing through cutting-edge image-processing techniques, traditional machine learning, and the latest deep-learning neural networks. In particular, I develop automated algorithms for segmenting retinal layers in optical coherence tomography (OCT) and creating meaningful retinal layer projection and thickness maps that provide critical insights into disease phenotypes. My work also leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to identify potential biomarkers from these extracted image features for improved disease diagnosis and prognosis. Additionally, I am committed to designing a user-friendly image viewer for better visualization of 3D OCT volumes. This viewer will be integrated with my AI system to support disease screening, classification, treatment effect observation, and monitoring disease progression.
