ART OF MATH
June 6-10, 2016

Design, create and calculate! Math is more than just numbers—it’s also about shapes, patterns, and representation. Explore geometry, symmetry and more; then use these ideas to make creative works of art. Each day will have a different theme and students will discover fascinating patterns that can be used in art. This camp will cover geometric string art, tessellations, origami and three dimension explorations.

Let your child’s inner gamer grow. In this game development camp, your child will learn about good game play, game mechanics and genres, interactivity and controls, level design, and basic programming. Using an intuitive software tool designed for young minds, your video game enthusiast will get a hands-on experience as they explore designing and creating their own video games.

Challenge your child’s power of imagination as they learn to create thrilling tales and visual worlds. In this camp, your child will utilize computer tools to craft interactive stories, graphic artwork and computer animation, digital music, and other multimedia. While inventing these stories, your child will also learn basic computer programming techniques that will allow your child to hit the ground running inside the world of software creation and design.

Learn how to hack, design, code and make using technology and computer science. Any level of interest and experience is welcome.
If you attended this camp last summer, no problem—we’ve added new classes and activities. From computer programming, micro controllers, pixel art, digital photography, e-textiles, to web design and more, we’ve got something for every girl! Girls are grouped in classes by age. Camp includes a free t-shirt and several take home projects.
Girls Weld: The Art & Science of Metalwork
Overnight camp - two days and one night in WSU's dorms!
This exciting, hands-on overnight camp is for high school girls interested in exploring the art and science of metalwork through the medium of welding. Work with WSU faculty and students as you learn different processes, metal tolerances and design techniques to create beautiful and useful pieces.

It's stinky, slimy, crusty, and gross! What is that stuff, and where does it come from? Come into the lab and collect specimens, investigate how your body works and be ready to be grossed out.
IMAGINATION IN MOTION DANCE THEATER CAMP
June 20-24, 9:00 a.m - 3:30 p.m
Studies have shown that children involved in the arts show an increase in academic skills, focus, and the ability to work in groups. During this camp, your child will make new friends as they learn different ways to enhance their self-expression and put their new knowledge to work in a fun and open environment.
LIGHT AND COLOR TELL A STORY CAMP
June 6-10, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Join us as we look at the history and importance of stained glass windows as a medium to tell a story. You will have the opportunity to tell your own story in the creation of your own faux-stained glass design. We will also explore how glass is colored, artist who use colored glass in their art, and the relationship between light and color.
MANUFACTURING & ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY STEM
Returning Summer 2018
This exciting, hands-on Manufacturing & Engineering Technology (M&ET) Camp is for those who want to get down & dirty with technology like rockets, renewable energy & electronics. Learn more in one intensive hands-on week then a whole semester of school! All classes taught by WSU faculty, Dr. Fred Chou, Dr. Andrew Deceuster and Jeremy Farner in WSU labs & classrooms.
ROLLER COASTER CAMP
June 13 - 16, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m
Learn how to design a roller coaster for maximum thrill! Tet the effects of free fall, g-force, centripetal force and acceleration as you harness kinetic and potential energy to engineer your own roller coaster.
Ages: All of our camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, and/or grade level).

July 18-22, 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m
Campers come explore local aquatic and terrestrial environments in the classroom and on the WSU Discovery Trail. Become an environmental scientist by collecting samples and conducting tests to assess an ecosystem's health. In this camp you will learn about chemistry, geoscience and data analysis.
WSU PREP is a free summer academic program designed to motivate and prepare jr. high students in their STEM studies. In this 7 week program, students will take Logic and Its Application to Mathematics, Introduction to Engineering, and Problem Solving 1. Fridays are reserved for field trips and special educational events. Students are expected to attend WSU PREP for three consecutive summers.
