The Department offers two Clinical Laboratory Sciences programs: A two year AAS degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (CLT) / Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), and a four year BS degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) / Medical Technology (MT). Each of these degrees is offered both as on-campus and online programs. Those interested in either the online CLT or CLS program must be currently employed in a hospital or clinical laboratory.
As a CLS student at Weber State University, you'll be part of a well-recognized, groundbreaking academic program:
- WSU CLS students have a 95 percent or better pass rate for both CLT/MLT (medical laboratory technician) and CLS/MT (medical technologist) on all national certification examinations.
- WSU has 100 percent career placement of clinical laboratory sciences and clinical laboratory technician students/graduates.
- WSU was the first university in the world to offer a complete CLS bachelor's degree and CLT associate's degree online.
- Out of state online students, do not pay “traditional” non-resident tuition prices. Online tuition is based on a flat per credit hour fee and is comparable to resident in state tuition.
- Our Bachelor of Science degree offers two learning tracks: Track I is for students intending to work as clinical laboratory scientists. Upon graduation, you will first take a national registry exam that will qualify you to work in hospital or clinic laboratories. Positions are also available in industrial labs, education, medical sales, medical research, forensics, medical administration, cytology, histology, etc. Track II is for those who intend to apply to medical, physician assistant, dental, veterinary or other graduate schools. This track will prepare you for your continuing education.
