OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University broadcast students took first prize in six categories during the National Broadcasting Society’s Region 6 Audio/Video Competition 2003.
WSU video packages placed in 11 of 15 categories this year. Overall WSU students earned 16 prizes, including a sweep of the news features package field. WSU competed against entries from Utah State University and Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash.
Professional broadcasters in Idaho and Salt Lake City served as judges, evaluating entries on reporting, news judgment, videography and overall presentation. First-place winners at regionals automatically advance to NBS’s national competition that will be held in Miami in March 2004. Last year WSU had four videos reach the national finals and won the grand prize in three categories.
