WSU Honors Graduates at 154th Commencement

OGDEN, Utah – More than 2,119 Weber State University students have applied for graduation and will be honored during the 154th convocation ceremonies on Dec. 13, beginning at 8 a.m.

The convocation ceremonies will be held at various times throughout the day in four campus locations: Dee Events Center, Val A. Browning Center Austad Auditorium, Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater and Stewart Library Hetzel-Hoellein Room 321.

All graduates attending college convocation ceremonies will receive pewter die-cast medallions with the presidential seal in honor of their achievements.

Scholar and humanitarian R. Robert “Bob” Harris will deliver the keynote address. Harris will present in person during the convocations for the Jerry & Vickie Moyes College of Education, John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics, College of Engineering, Applied Science & Technology and the Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions. Harris’ pre-recorded remarks will be played at other college convocation ceremonies held during the day.

Throughout his distinguished law career, Harris held several executive positions, and served as a judge deciding civil cases in the Utah state courts for more than 20 years. He is an outspoken ambassador for WSU, a lifetime member of the alumni association and an advisory-board member for the Telitha E. Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities. In April 2019, Harris received an honorary doctorate from Weber State.

Guest tickets are not required for convocation ceremonies. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Graduates with special needs should contact Disability Services at 801-626-6413.

“Putting Students Through,” a short program where graduates honor parents, spouses and friends who supported them, will be held Dec. 12 in the Shepherd Union Ballrooms at 4 p.m.
