Santa Claus Takes On "Anti-Claus"

OGDEN, Utah – For years, Kay Gillespie, chairman of Weber State University’s criminal justice department,  has delivered his annual “Anti-Claus” lecture, ringing in the holiday season with a warning about the evils of Santa Claus.  But this year, Gillespie may have met his match.

The WSU Honors Issues Forum has arranged for Gillespie to address the jolly old elf himself. Gillespie and Santa will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 5) in the Stewart Library Special Collections room.

The event will begin with Gillespie’s traditional, holiday lecture about what’s wrong with Santa Claus. Following the presentation, Santa, who lists his occupation as director of the North Pole, will finally make his long-awaited rebuttal.

The event is free to the public.

Gillespie will also deliver his “Anti-Claus” lecture Wednesday (Dec. 4) at 11 a.m. in Social Science Building 119. It is free to the public as well.
