Bah Humbug! Professor Set to Deliver Annual ‘Anti-Claus’ Lecture
Nov 28, 2005

Twas three weeks before Christmas,
Prompting conjecture,
Isn’t it about time for the
“Anti-Claus” lecture?
All the Wildcats at Weber
Head for the union;
To listen to Gillespie’s
Seas’nal opinion.

OGDEN, Utah – With apologies to Clement C. Moore and poets everywhere, it’s time once again for Weber State University’s very own “Scrooge,” criminal justice professor Kay Gillespie, to deliver his season’s tidings on the problems with Santa Claus.

As much a part of the holiday season as crowded parking lots at the mall and Christmas carols on the radio, each year Gillespie shares his concerns about how the true meaning of the season has been usurped by the jolly ol’ elf and all the materialism and commercialization he represents.

Gillespie will present his annual lecture at 10 a.m., Dec. 2 in the Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater. The event is free to the public.
