Undersecretary of State to Discuss Nuclear Weapons Policy at WSU

OGDEN, Utah – The United States Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security will discuss “The Future of  U.S. Nuclear Weapons Policy” on Oct. 21 at 1:30 p.m. in Weber State University’s Elizabeth Hall Room 229.

The public is invited to attend this free event, which is sponsored by the Olene S. Walker Institute of Politics & Public Service.

Rose Gottemoeller was appointed Undersecretary in March 2014. She advises Secretary of State John Kerry on arms control, nonproliferation and disarmament. Gottemoeller has served in a variety of positions involving arms control, nonproliferation and national security. In addition, she has expertise in the affairs of Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia.

“Undersecretary Gottemoeller’s visit to Weber State is an important opportunity for students to become informed about the issues of international relations, in this case, nuclear weapons policy,” said Carol McNamara, Walker Institute director. “These issues seem remote to Utah but can affect our lives directly in terms of war and peace, at home and abroad.”
