OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Shepherd Union Building will host a Union Open House Party on Oct. 18 to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated union and kick off this year’s fall break.
The evening will kick off at 6:30 p.m.with a series of family events, including a juggler, "High School Musical" dance-along, carpet bowling, kid karaoke and crafts. Free pizza and lemonade will be available for the kids.
At 8 p.m., the event will continue for audiences 18 and over, featuring comedian Marcus, pop punk band Quietdrive, and a D.J. dance party. Free food will be served throughout the evening.
The comedian Marcus, “The Man of 1000 Voices,” will take the stage in the Shepherd Union Atrium at 8 p.m. Marcus started doing voice impressions when he was 10 years old and has been perfecting and adding new voices ever since. Despite the nickname, Marcus estimates he’s actually mastered about 600 voices to date.
At 9 p.m., the pop punk band Quietdrive will perform. Quietdrive is described by band member Kevin Truckenmiller as “rock-n-roll mixed with some passion and emotion and a never-ending drive to succeed. That's kind of what the name is all about, that quiet drive within us all.”
Their cover of the Cyndi Lauper song “Time After Time” has been featured in promotions for the WNBA’s “Have You Seen Her?” campaign and the soundtrack for the 2006 feature film “John Tucker Must Die.”
From 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., the D.J. dance party will conclude the evening. For more information contact Chad Mosher at 801-626-8539.
