Students Organize Events to Promote Understanding
Oct. 12, 2006

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Student Association has organized the second annual Wall of Hate to raise awareness against hate.

On Oct.14, WSUSA will construct and paint a temporary cinder-block wall at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza. The wall will include descriptions of the levels of hate, as described by the Anti-Defamation League.

"We wanted to show how hate is an obstacle that gets in the way of progress," said Eric Pope, WSUSA vice president for diversity.

On Oct. 19, Keith Wilder, Services for Multicultural Students coordinator, will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Shepherd Union 352 to discuss the stages and degrees of hate.

Planned events will culminate with the opportunity for students to break down the wall with sledgehammers on Oct. 23 at noon.
