Mortensen Named Assistant Vice President

OGDEN, Utah – Brad Mortensen has been named assistant vice president for Support and Auxiliary Services at Weber State University. Mortensen comes to WSU from the Utah System of Higher Education, where he served as assistant commissioner for Finance and Facilities the past two years.

In his new role, Mortensen will work with state legislators to keep them informed about WSU issues and concerns.

"Brad is a wonderful hire for Weber State University," said Norm Tarbox, vice president of Administrative Services.  "His knowledge of legislative processes, his established relationships at the state level, and his positive and helpful disposition will make him an ideal legislative liaison."

In addition to working with lawmakers, Mortensen will oversee printing and mailing services, the Dee Events Center and ticket office. He'll also supervise athletic compliance and work on university budget matters.

Mortensen, a graduate of Utah State University, holds a master's degree in public administration from Syracuse University and is working toward his Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of Utah. He assumed his new duties effective Aug. 16.

Harris Takes on New Responsibilities

            Jim Harris has taken on a new assignment as Campus Planning and Development Manager at Weber State University. Harris, who has worked in WSU’s Facilities Management department for four years, is responsible for campus master planning and negotiating property acquisitions and dispositions.
