15th Annual Wildcat Block Party to Kick off WSU School Year

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University’s annual Wildcat Block Party will draw thousands of people to campus for a back-to-school celebration Aug. 30 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza.

The event is a chance to celebrate campus organizations as well as educate students and community members about how to get involved in university activities.

“The Wildcat Block Party is one of Weber State’s most important traditions,” said Tara Peris, Student Involvement and Leadership director. “It allows the campus community to celebrate the many services, majors, departments, activities and organizations the university offers.”

Wildcat Block Party begins at 8 a.m. with campus administrators serving the free annual Purple Pancake Breakfast. Campus and community booths will open at 8:30 a.m., and sponsored activities are scheduled throughout the day.

Students with a valid Wildcard may pick up food passports at the Shepherd Union Information Desk. Beginning at 11 a.m., they can visit various locations around the event to collect passport stamps for a chance to enter for grand-prize drawing.

More than 170 groups are expected to sponsor booths around this year’s theme “The Many Stories of Weber.” The booths will be divided into categories such as academic departments, campus and community partners, commercial groups and WSU clubs and organizations.

The booths and food vendors will be open until 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available on Harrison Boulevard and at the pay lot on the south side of the Shepherd Union Building.
