Pedro to Speak at WSU
August 22, 2007

OGDEN, Utah – Although he won't be taking his bike off any sweet jumps or displaying his tetherball skills with his pal Napoleon, Efren Ramirez, better known as Pedro from the 2004 movie "Napoleon Dynamite," will speak at Weber State University Aug. 31.

Ramirez's presentation, which is part of WSU's Convocation Lecture Series at the Wildcat Block Party, will focus on the "Napoleon Dynamite" phenomenon, how he became a part of it and what the movie's success has done for his career. Part of his presentation will include clips from the movie and an opportunity for those in attendance to ask questions following his remarks. The event will take place in the Shepherd Union Gallery at 11 a.m.

Later that evening, Ramirez will be a guest DJ at a dance on WSU's lower quad. He also will be available to sign autographs.

Before his work on "Napoleon Dynamite," Ramirez graduated from a conservatory program at the Laura Henry Acting Studio in Santa Monica, Calif. He has studied and performed improv at the Young Actors Space and has appeared on television shows such as "Dangerous Minds," "ER" and "Judging Amy." He also has appeared in the films "Delivering Milo," "The Race" and "Missing Pieces." In his next film, "Night Crew," Ramirez will star alongside Bruce Campbell and Jack Black.
