Nursing Student Elected Officer in National Organization
Jun 21, 2005
OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University nursing student Marie Dinger has been elected to the Nominating and Elections Committee of the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA), which includes more than 50,000 student nurses nationwide.

At the NSNA national conference in Salt Lake City this spring, Dinger was elected to the Nominating and Elections Committee, the first WSU nursing student to hold a position in the national organization. She is responsible for encouraging and improving leadership at individual schools, as well as on the state level in the Western United States. She will also travel to two national conferences – Louisville, Ky. in November and Baltimore in April – to make presentations and train leaders.

"I felt that nursing was a good career choice," Dinger said. "I love to help people and this will give me the opportunity to do that."

Dinger, who previously earned a bachelor's degree in clothing and textiles, enters her second year in the WSU nursing program this fall. She is a licensed professional nurse and is working toward becoming a registered nurse.

Dinger hopes to eventually work in pediatrics oncology (children with cancer) and be a traveling nurse.
