WSU Vigil Planned to Support Orlando Victims

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University and community partners will host a vigil June 15 at 7 p.m. at the Stewart Bell Tower Plaza in support of the Orlando shooting victims and survivors.

The vigil will include music, a moment of silence and reading victims’ names. A variety of representatives from Weber State’s Counseling & Psychological Services Center as well as civic, religious and student leaders will speak during the evening.

“We are hosting this event because it is important to come together in times of tragedy to support each other, so we can heal and move forward as a community,” said Jayson Stokes, WSU LGBT Resource Center director.

Tentative event schedule:  

Welcome: 7 p.m.
Music: 7:05 p.m.
Counselor: 7:10 p.m.
Faith leaders: 7:15 p.m.
Victims' names: 7:40 p.m.
Moment of silence: 8 p.m.
Music: 8:05 p.m.
Student Leaders: 8:15 p.m.
Community Leaders: 8:30 p.m.
