Wind Ensemble to Perform at Walt Disney Concert Hall
June 13, 2007

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Wind Ensemble will perform at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on June 18.

The ensemble was the only college group accepted to participate in the Los Angeles International Band & Orchestra Festival to be held June 15-19. The event will culminate with a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, which is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

WSU performing arts professor Thomas Root will be a faculty member at the festival and will premiere a piece at the concert on June 18 to memorialize those who lost their lives in the Virginia Tech massacre in April.

The members of the WSU Wind Ensemble are selected by audition and generally number 42 players.  This year's ensemble is slightly larger because of the addition of two percussionists and a pianist required by some of the larger works programmed.
