Perozzi Named Student Affairs Vice President at WSU

OGDEN, Utah – Brett Perozzi has been named vice president for Student Affairs at Weber State University, effective March 1.

Perozzi, who first came to WSU as associate vice president for Student Affairs in 2007, was selected following a national search.

“Brett has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the management of several offices in Student Affairs,” said WSU President Charles A. Wight. “I'm pleased he has accepted our offer to serve as vice president, and I am excited to see where he leads the division.”

Perozzi has served as the interim vice president since September 2017, following the retirement of vice president Jan Winniford. As associate vice president, his duties focused on the business operations that support students, leaving less time for direct interaction with students.

“I’m excited and honored to continue to collaborate with all the great people in Student Affairs, and WSU more broadly,” Perozzi said. “Most of all, I’m excited about the opportunity to work more closely with our students.”

During his time at Weber State, Perozzi has served in various leadership roles. He co-chairs the Student Success Steering Committee with provost Madonne Miner. The committee leads a university-wide effort to implement strategies to retain more students and help them graduate faster.

“I love the opportunities Weber State provides for our students,” Perozzi said. “I look forward to finding more ways to help our students thrive and succeed.”

Prior to joining WSU, Perozzi served as executive director of Student Engagement at Arizona State University and has worked at Indiana, Texas Tech and Colorado State universities. Perozzi has published three books, two on the topic of international student affairs and services, and one on student employment during college. He has authored dozens of publications in journals, textbooks, monographs and book chapters.

Perozzi is active in the student affairs professional association NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, helping coordinate and shape its global agenda. He has presented on higher education topics worldwide. Perozzi is a founding member of the International Association of Student Affairs and Services.

Originally from upstate New York, Perozzi and his family love the outdoors and enjoy spending time in the mountains year-round.

Perozzi earned his Ph.D. from Indiana University in higher education administration with a minor in strategic management. He has a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Arizona and a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam.
