UMT's 2005 season will feature "Kiss Me Kate," "Side by Side by Sondheim" and the premiere of a new musical, "Wicked City Blues." Auditions for union and non-union performers will run from 6-10 p.m. on the 25th and 1-4 p.m. on the 26th with dance callbacks that night from 6-10 p.m.
Those wishing to audition need to prepare one comic monologue and two songs (16 bars each of one ballad and one character). To be considered for a role in the Sondheim revue at least one song must be from that composer. Casting breakdowns are available at weber.edu/UMT. All roles are open and paid. UMT places an emphasis on hiring Utahns. To sign up for a 5-minute time slot, call the UMT office after Feb. 14 at (801) 626-7775.
UMT is also seeking applicants to work as carpenters, painters, stitchers, electricians, dressers, sound specialists, wig and make-up specialists, shift crew members, wardrobe specialists and craft specialists on the UMT production staff. Resumes should be submitted to Karyn Richardson, UMT production manager.
