Peer Mentoring

SSS Peer Mentors provide outreach and support to entering SSS students to:

  1. Familiarize students with the SSS program and University resources, enabling them to reach their educational and personal goals.
  2. Ease the student's transition to college life, by discovering, developing, and honing their unique abilities that will help them succeed at Weber State University.
  3. Instill a sense of "community" among all program participants by providing service projects and activities where students can give back to the community while getting to know one another and building friendships.

Peer Mentors cultivate relationships and foster communication with each member of an assigned group by planning cultural and social activities and maintaining ongoing contact with students throughout their first year of college. SSS Peer Mentors are program "ambassadors", as well as leaders and role models to all SSS participants.

Entering freshmen will be assigned a peer mentor when they are accepted in to SSS.

Contact Donalyn at 626-6867 for more information about peer mentoring.

Student Support Services is 100% federally funded.  The grant amount for the 2012/2013 school year is $401,130.
