About Us

We offer traditional graduate students and working adults advanced preparation in the study of literature, language, creative writing, and rhetoric and writing. Classes are offered in the evening and in the summer to fit your busy schedule.

You’ll work with professors who have won multiple awards for teaching, scholarship and service. Our faculty members are professionally active: Collectively, we’ve published over 20 books and dozens of articles, with more on the way.

Affordable

As the most affordable Master of Arts in English program in Utah, we believe tuition should never be an obstacle to educational opportunity.

If you need assistance, financial aid and scholarships are available.

Accessible

There's no GRE or MAT for admission consideration to the program. We want to evaluate your academic achievement and writing ability, not your skill at taking a standardized test.

Personal

Designed for working professionals, our program’s flexible format allows you to tailor the timing and pace of your degree to your busy schedule.

Most classes follow a 16-week format, meeting 1 night per week (5:30 - 8:10 p.m.), and courses are offered during fall, spring and summer semesters. You may take up to 9 credit hours per semester, or step out of the program for a semester when your life or career needs to come first.

Our course schedule follows the full-length undergraduate semester calendar and includes the same registration and tuition deadlines, holidays and breaks. See the Current Schedule and Upcoming Courses page for tentative course schedules.

Our outstanding faculty, small class sizes, flexible scheduling and reasonable tuition provide an exceptional graduate education experience.
