Interior Design Program Earns Accreditation

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University’s Interior Design Technology program
was recently awarded accreditation by a prestigious national
organization. WSU is one of only two interior design programs in the
state accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).
Faculty
members said the rigorous three-year process for recognition was well
worth the effort. Graduating from a CIDA-accredited program will give
students an edge when applying for both internships and jobs.

Students Win First Place in Construction Competition

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University construction management students won first place in the heavy civil category at the Associated Schools of Construction regional student competition, held Feb. 11-14 in Reno, Nev.
WSU
students competed against 15 Region 6 schools, including Brigham Young
University, Arizona State University, Boise State University and
Colorado State University.

Senior Project Improves Campus for Fellow Students

OGDEN, Utah – Thanks
to the efforts of five graduating seniors, Weber State University
students waiting to ride the campus shuttle buses will have better
protection against the elements.
As part of a senior project in the Department of Manufacturing/Mechanical
Engineering Technology, five students are building two shelters to be
used at popular shuttle bus stops on campus. The group includes
students majoring in manufacturing engineering technology (MFET) with an emphasis in welding and design graphics engineering technology (DGET).

Mechanical Engineering Students’ Senior Project Headed for Rough Terrain

Weber State University seniors, the toughest test of their college
careers may occur after they graduate next month.
Since last
August, 10 men and one woman have spent eight to 10 hours a week
working on a mini baja vehicle as part of their senior project in the mechanical engineering technology program. The finished vehicle is scheduled to compete in the Mini Baja
West 2006 competition, May 11-13 in Portland, Ore. This is the third
consecutive year that WSU mechanical engineering technology students
have competed in the event, which is open to universities and colleges
across North and South America, and also has attracted teams from Korea
and South Africa.
